The Challenge
Birth care in the U.S. is failing our families. Up to 80% of maternal and infant deaths are preventable, yet too many families leave their care feeling dismissed, disrespected, and scared. Black mothers are three to four times more likely to die around the time of birth, and Black babies are twice as likely not to survive their first year, a gap that has barely moved in fifty years. Not because of who we are, but because of racism's impact on our care, our communities, and our health. And the cost is enormous: each year's preterm births cost the U.S. an estimated $25 billion over those children's lifetimes, about $65,000 for every baby born too soon.

In Beloved Birth Black Centering, families circle up with Black midwives and care coordinators, learn together, eat together, move together, and walk through pregnancy as a village. They experience less stress and more joy; feeling seen, honored, celebrated, and empowered. And their babies are thriving: born full-term more often, at healthier weights, and far less likely to need the NICU.
